I have a storage problem. Help!!!?

My room is always messy. I have to clean it up every Saturday, and it usually takes me atleast an hour!
I have a cubby-hole type thing thing that has nine holes, and 5-7 of them are taken most of the time. I just can’t figure out what to put in the extra holes!
I never have enough room for my shoes in my closet. I’ve tried racks, shoe bags, and shelves, but nothing works! Now all I have is half of a shelf to keep all of my sneakers, flip flops, sandals, boots, heels, and church shoes on.
My dresser drawers are always overflowing and I can never find what I want when I want it.
My desk is constantly messy, even though it has a shelf for folders and a cubby attatched.
The top of my dresser is cluttered with pictures, earrings, papers, programs, and every odd-and-end I can’t find a place for.

I believe you have a room full of unnecessary things that you must get rid of before you start cleaning. I have learned to let go of objects that I owned for absolutely no use or purpose except the fact that “someone gave it to me” -Get rid of it. Things that you are holding on to with no use or purpose what so ever except the simple fact that you’ve kept it for so long it would hurt you if you no longer had it. -Get rid of it.
If you haven’t used it for the past 5 years and you don’t need it just let go and get rid of it, this includes shoes, jewelry, and clothing that you’ve kept thinking one day you would use it again take it to a good wil where someone can wear it and use it now! Although it might be hard at first at the end you will feel a lot better living in a more spacious and cleanenvironmentt. Secondly start by throwing out your trash, search and destroy all those stacks of papers that you don’t need, anything of importance make sure it is kept in files labeled for easy access. Third, clean the room and KEEP IT CLEAN that’s the best way to avoid an hour a week of room cleaning. When you take something out make sure you place it back where it belongs after each use other wise you will always have the same problem.
As for shoes…I’ve always kept the shoe boxes they came in and stacked those on the top of my closet shelf. However if you have too many shoes that might be another problem. Use an album to keep your pictures protected and organized. Use a jewelry box for your earrings. Categorize any other paperwork into folders and fix them on your desk shelf. Find a place for everything and keep it thereevery timee.
When saturdays come all you should be doing is dusting and vacuuming.
