How do I clean silver and moonstone jewelry?

I have a necklace that I got years ago as a gift. The silver pendant has a small stone in the middle. It’s iridescent and a very pale color and I believe it’s moonstone, but for all I know it’s just sea glass or something. I need to clean the silver part (the gem cannot be separated from the silver backing, so I am hesitant to soak it in salt water) and I was wondering what the best, safest method would be?
i don’t actually need to clean the stone, i just want to make sure it doesn’t get damaged in the process of cleaning the silver

I would NEVER go near a gemstone with bleach. Your safest bet would be a silver cleaning cloth. You can wipe the silver setting around the stone and it won’t harm the stone, whatever it is. You can wipe the necklace as well, just pull it through the cloth.
Don’t soak it in saltwater. Salt will just corrode the metal. If the stone has a solid metal backing, don’t get it wet at all. The water will seep behind the stone and do damage.
