What better to choose for a white gold wedding ring, 14k or 18k?

Of course the higher the karat the better, but in my canvassing in different jewelry stores, some would say that for wedding rings 14k is better because 18k white gold jewelry easily becomes discolored over time while the 14k does not, making it ideal for wedding rings which are constantly worn. Is this true?

It really does not matter which karat you buy it will all eventually discolour as white gold was originally YELLOW but an added adhesive changed it to the white colour. when purchasing a white gold ring the important thing is to remember to get it re-plated twice a year or once as white gold is a non-shiny metal and is plated with Rhodium to give it its shiny finish and this wears off with lots of use and daily wear. It will also be important to remember to remove the rings when swimming, cleaning and showering as this will pro-long the life of the finish. and when storing store it seperately so that other jewellery does not scratch the finish off. The jewellers lied to you no matter what karat you buy it will discolour some just faster then others and if you get the ring re-sized the probability oth the ring discolouring at the joint is very likely.
